Internet Poker Guide - Patience
The single biggest asset of a winning poker player is patience. There’s just no way around it. The good news is that even the most impatient people can learn poker patience, especially when they see the results it produces.
Poker is a great game but it can definitely be a frustrating one at times. No matter how well you play, you’re often going to lose hands, sometimes in the most annoying ways possible. All you can do is stay patient and keep an eye on the long run, playing each individual hand as well as you possibly can.
Not only do you have to be patient in a larger sense, but also each and every hand. Resist the temptation to call with hands just so you can see a flop, just so you can possibly get a piece of the action with a hand you know you should fold. Remember, there’s always going to be another hand so don’t get impatient and try to force a winning session or hand.
Patiently wait for good hands and play them aggressively. Yes, folding is no fun, but losing money is even less fun, and the key trait of losing players is that they’re not patient enough to wait only for good hands and good situations, instead trying to force things to happen.
