Where To Find The Best Poker Podcasts
When you travel around either in the car, on foot, on the train or on the bus and you are not listening to poker podcasts you are missing out on prime poker listening time! I must admit I am totally addicted to playing poker audio on my iPod and have a selection of podcasts that I download each week and that keeps me happy driving around and hearing the latest news and fun from the various shows. I have even been known to listen to poker shows whilst playing in poker tournaments both live and online. Here are a few you can enjoy; they are totally free to download from the various sites.
Two plus Two Pokercast
This show is hosted by Mike and Adam each week Two plus two always do a fun but serious show which lasts around two hours. The two plus two site is a strategy community that publishes a wide variety of books which you will often find in your local bookstore. They regularly have the top players from both live and online on the show as guests and are a well produced, serious strategy podcast. This is probably thought of in the poker industry as the top show, so you should definitely check it out. There are almost 100 pokercasts available in the archive so listening to 2+2 should keep you happy for a reasonable length of time.
Pokerroad.com
This site has been set-up by Barry Greenstein, Joe Sebok and Gavin Smith amongst others and has a variety of different shows available for download. They started with many shows like Cash Plays, The Bear Pit, All Strategy, before some of them stopped offering new versions and the regular shows now consists of Cash Plays, The Poker Beat and The Bear Pit which features Barry Greenstein. Whilst I personally dislike the way many pokercasts start and then stop suddenly there is enough regular content to give you around ten new hours of quality poker audio to listen to each week. The styles of these pokercasts are banterish with Sebok, Smith et al having a good laugh during the show. There is also a big archive section for people wanting older shows.
On The Rail
Nick Wealthall and Kara Scott were popular live hosts of the Poker Channel’s poker show in the UK and have carried on providing content with a regular podcast to download. Nick leads the show whilst Kara, who has enjoyed deep runs in the Irish Open and WSOP main event, interviews the shows guests, who are usually the top players from the live and online circuit. As Kara is a top player herself she knows the right questions to ask and I found interviews with players like Danny “D_RY” Ryan very entertaining and informative. Their show usually lasts around one and a half to two hours. I highly recommend this show, however it is not always regular with once a month looking the normal time span between shows these days.
Never Win Poker (NWP)
This poker show is more for users with a taste for the freedom from censorship that the Internet allows. Bryan Micon, Todd Witteles and Dustin Wolff host a profanity filled discussion of poker topics, their wacky forum happenings and general cold calls from their forum members. Fans who do not enjoy fun being poked at people or swearing should avoid this show but it is two hours of humorous talk loosely based on poker. I enjoy this show, but would never play it to my parents
I hope you enjoy these poker shows and let me know if there are any other good ones I should be listening to every week.
